Take a Look at What the Supporters of Nhlanhla Lux Dlamini have to say after his arrest
The Dudula Movement supporters have condemned the arrest of their leader Nhlanhla Lux Dlamini. Dlamini was arrested on Thursday the 24th of March 2022 in the afternoon. His detention emanated from charges laid against him at the Dobsonville police station on Wednesday, the 23rd of March 2022. His arrest comes after the EFF gave the police 7 days to arrest him. Nhlanhla Lux is detained at the Johannesburg central police station.
The Dudula Movement supporters have expressed anger and alluded that, the arrest shows the government is depriving its citizens of freedom of expression and the right to protest. Some frustrated supporters complain that the government is not doing enough to support the black child, and are calling for a more vocal pressure campaign
Some members are sympathizing and encouraging him to be strong, saying they will not be silenced, their struggle will continue. One of the members at Twitter space went on to praise him saying that Nhlanhla Lux was the only guy that protected Maponya Mall during July 2021 looting following the arrest of former president Jacob Zuma.
One of the members said the police officers always encouraged community members to help in fighting crime within the community but now they are busy arresting the founder of Operation Dudula for a crime that he did not commit.
It is important to note that several opposition leaders and politicians have expressed concern and condemned the operation Dududa movement. The Operation Dudula members are taking the law into their own hands, they want to remove foreign nationals by force thereby contravening the law. On the 15th of February 2022, we have seen the police using rubber bullets, teargas, and water cannons to disperse a crowd of angry Dudula protesters
The incident that led to Nhlanhla Lux’s arrest is that Operation Dudula members on Sunday the 20th of March had allegedly raided the house belonging to Victor Ramerafe, an EFF member. This is what Ramerafe had to say ‘‘they did not have a search warrant, they searched and left my house in a messy condition, I have lost my R300 and a small Nokia cellphone. I do not sell drugs,” said Ramerafe to IOL earlier this week. That’s when EFF demanded that Dlamini be arrested within seven days.
More details about his arrest will follow, stay tuned.
