South Africans are fed up with Zimbabweans whether documented or undocumented: Foreigners must go
Some South Africans that attended the stakeholders meeting in Diepsloot on the 8th of April 2022 indicated that they are fed up with Zimbabweans whether documented or not. Some twitter users also echoed the same sentiments;
It has emerged that South Africans are fed up with Zimbabweans, whether they are documented or undocumented. During the stakeholder meeting held in Diepsloot, a Zimbabwean national was not allowed to talk and he was chased out of the meeting.
One South Africa was overheard saying that they want the police minister to implement, Stop-Search, and Arrest. During the interview, the South African man whose picture is shown below indicated that all Zimbabwean must live and go back to their country, he was heard saying ”’they must go, we don”t want to see them” when he was asked about the documented ones, he said ”yes they must live, they must go.”
The minister of home affairs affirmed that they are going to work with the community under the banner *Operation Restore*
Police Minister Bheki Cele expressed concern that South African nationals are harbouring undocumented immigrants, who are their tenants and are benefiting from them. He also added on to say, the community should give them a list of those people giving bribes to the police as well as the names of the police who are taking bribes.
The latest developments during the stakeholders’ meeting held in Deipsloot are as given below; present were the police commissioner, the home affairs minister, the police minister, locals, and the community leaders at large. This is what they had to say;
· We are here to work with you under operation restore
· 25 home affairs officers will be deployed to Diepslot
· The situation goes beyond illegal immigration, the issue is criminality
· We are not chasing criminals according to nationality, we will arrest all criminals
· We have 11000 foreign nationals in our prisons
· 16 police cars and 120 police officers to remain in Diepsloot for 3 months
· We are doing something to fix the porous border challenges
· We condemn the killings of all human beings not just one person
Meanwhile Amnesty International says South Africa’s Failure to deal with crime is behind the protest taking place. Dr. Trevor Ngwane from the University of Johannesburg Centre for sociological research and practice echoed the same sentiments condemning the killing of human beings, The focus should be centered around addressing the root cause of the problem.
